Prevention is Best Constipation Cure

People looking for a true constipation cure are sure to be disappointed because no such thing actually exists.  While we can take products that will help with constipation symptoms once they arise, the fact is that the condition may arise due to a number of circumstances or medical problems.  Thus, any constipation remedy will depend upon the actual cause of the bowel incontinence.  In many cases, you may not even need any constipation help—you just have to quit doing whatever is causing the bowel problems.  Some of the many behaviors/substances known to cause a constipation problem are:

  • Taking medication.  Antidepressants, pain killers, and many neurological drugs are known to cause constipation symptoms as a potential side effect.
  • Dehydration.  You need to drink at least ½ ounce of water for every pound of body fat under the best of circumstances.  However, you need to increase your intake if you use any of the following:  Alcohol; Caffeinated Products; Dietary Supplements; Laxatives; Excessive Exercise
  • Poor diet.  Fiber is a very important home remedy for constipation but it takes a few weeks to really be effective.  Fiber adds bulk to your stool so that it is easier for the colon and large intestines to push through your body.  Plus, fiber will absorb water into your stool and make is softer and easier to evacuate.

When doctors diagnose most cases of chronic constipation, poor diet is often cited as the likely cause of the condition.  Anyone who eats out a lot or consumes a lot of processed foods, refined sugars, caffeine, alcohol, or saturated fats—well, they are going to have a digestive system that works slow and causes back-ups when it comes to bowel movements.

This often allows the feces to cling to the walls of the colon and large intestines and restricting the passageway through the gastrointestinal tract.  Not only does this slow down the process of evacuation, it increases the chances for a blockage and severe constipation.  This is not an uncommon problem and the average American has anywhere from 10-15 pounds of dried and compacted feces clinging to the walls of their colon!  Unless this waste is removed, it will continue to be a potential cause of constipation problems in the future.

Laxatives, enemas, and even herbal supplements are all relatively effective at providing short term constipation relief, but they will not do much when it comes to preventing future blockages or removing that build-up of feces along the walls of your gastrointestinal tract.  You need to cleanse the entire system and there are two basic choices:

  • Colon Hydrotherapy
  • Colon Cleanser

Colon hydrotherapy is performed by a medical professional and is very thorough when it comes to flushing the colon but it tends to be a bit uncomfortable and costly.  A colon cleanser is product that you can use in your home to prevent constipation problems as it also flushes your colon—for a fraction of the cost of the hydrotherapy!  Just be sure to buy a bowel cleanser made from all natural ingredients because products made from chemicals may cause dehydration and further problems.  A colon cleanser is not a constipation cure—but it is the best product out there for preventing problems from occurring in the future and will improve your overall health by detoxifying your bowels.
